Gene Models: As of 2008-05-16, 9912 distinct rice proteins are splice-aligned to maize BACs. Maize BACs with 1 or more annotation: 7780. Browse or download a table of the latest sequenced BACs with rice predicted protein annotations.
Ds mapped BACs: Browse a table of annotated maize BACs matching Ds transposon insertion sites.
ZmGDB is being developed as a part of our NSF-funded project
"PlantGDB - Plant Genome Database and Analysis Tools"
(PI: Volker Brendel).
The purpose of this resource is to provide a convenient sequence-centered genome view for Zea mays, with a narrow focus on gene structure annotation.
Our view of the maize genome is currently emerging (click here to view the latest maize sequence count).
ZmGDB provides a scaled view of the maize gene space by continuously mapping the ESTs and PUTs onto the GSS Contigs and
all three of these sequence types onto maize genomic BACs.
As the genome gets assembled, contig and pseudochromosome views will become available, too.
Please let us know what you like and don't like about ZmGDB.

from maize chromosome 5 containing a gene encoding TATA sequence-binding protein 2 (TBP-2).
